Make pineapple a fruit of choice. Pineapple is rich in bromelain, a compound that may prevent and alleviate inflammation. Naturopathic physicians often prescribe bromelain supplements to treat osteoarthritis, but I prefer to get mine straight from the source.
If you want to protect your joints, be sure to eat lots of pineapple. And if you can get papaya without spending too much, try that, too. | | Cherries and strawberries are popular folk remedies for gout.
Go easy on vitamin C and niacin. Large doses of vitamin C and niacin can raise uric acid levels. The typical multivitamin/mineral supplement doesn't contain enough of either nutrient to trigger a gout attack.
